Original Productions, a FremantleMedia company, has promoted three executives while also streamlining the development department.  Sarah Whalen will be promoted to executive Vice President of programming and development.  Jeff Bumgarner will take over as Vice President of Programming.  The development department at Original Productions will be split into two pods with Steven Robillard returning as senior Vice President of development in pod one and Michelle Galster heading development pod two as Vice President of development.

The newly elected members to the Television Academy’s Board of Governors will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2015, ending on December 31, 2016. Governors elected to serve a first term include: Ted Biaselli, Jill Daniels, Peter Golden, CSA, Tammy Golihew, Beatriz Gomez, Terry Ann Gordon, Norman Leavitt, Sam Linsky, Janet Carol Norton, Philip Segal and Terence Winter. Former governors, Steve Kent and Mark Spatny, return to the board after a period of absence and join these first term governors, the TV Academy announced today.

Original Productions - Friday, June 13, 2014

Discovery’s long-running series Deadliest Catch picked up five prizes at the Realscreen Awards in Santa Monica tonight (June 4), with RuPaul’s Drag Race and Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda (pictured) among the other winners.

Deadliest Catch cleaned up in the technical categories, taking awards for best editing, directing and music, as well as the Docureality prize and the Award of Excellence – Reality.
Meanwhile, Logo show RuPaul’s Drag Race was victorious in the Competition – Talent and Studio-Based Program category; as well as the Best Host/Presenter category, recognizing RuPaul Andre Charles.
Also a double winner was Channel 4′s Rebuilding the World Trade Center, which took the prizes for Best Cinematography and Non-Fiction – Social Issues and Current Affairs Program.
Elsewhere, live stunt special Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda won the prizes for Digital and Branded Content – Multi-Platform Project; and for Most Original Concept. High wire walker Wallenda also won the prize for Personality of the Year, as previously reported.

Other award winners included Discovery Channel’s All the President’s Men Revisited, which won for Non-Fiction – History and Biographical Program; CBS’s The Amazing Race, which triumphed in the Competition – Game category; and NBC’s Million Second Quiz, which won in the new category of Competition – Shiny Floor Game Show.
Finally, and as previously announced, Undercover Boss creator Stephen Lambert was inducted into the Realscreen Hall Of Fame; A+E Networks president and CEO Nancy Dubuc received the inaugural Television Trailblazer award; and Wallenda was named Personality of the Year.

 Original Productions CEO Philip Segal Hosts Red Carpet Premiere

ArcLight Hollywood ‘Thank You’ to Captains and Production Crew 6PM Tonight

 (Hollywood, CA Tuesday, April 22, 2014) Original Productions (OP) CEO Philip Segal is rolling out the Red Carpet at the Hollywood ArcLight Theatre tonight. Segal will host the Deadliest Catch 10 Captains, their Crews and the Emmy® winning OP Productions Crew for the landmark premiere of America’s most dangerous show. “Our production crew has risked their lives along with the Deadliest Catch Captains and their crews for 10 amazing seasons. This is as real as it gets. Nothing on television compares to what they have achieved. It’s time to say ‘thank you’ in a big way!” said Segal.

Captains will hit dry land with the OP Production Crew at 6pm/pt followed by an exclusive premiere showing. “They deserve to see their work on the big screen, warts and all. I want them to see and hear their work that has garnered 10 Emmy® awards and 30 nominations” added Segal. Following the exclusive screening, Segal will host a VIP reception featuring 200 pounds of Alaska King Crab flown in for the milestone occasion.

Original Productions is honored to receive two Emmy® wins for our show Deadliest Catch, for Outstanding Picture Editing for Reality Programming -2013 and Outstanding Cinematography for Reality Programming -2013. The Original Production team behind making Deadliest Catch possible continue to set the standard for extraordinary reality television. “Couldn’t be prouder of these guys. Original Productions is proud to support My Friend’s Place (www.myfriendsplace.org), a Los Angeles based organization that assists and inspires homeless youth in building self-sufficient lives through a broad continuum of care including meals, education, case management and more. The OP Community gathered donations ranging from computer supplies to much needed shoes and clothing to help aid the homeless youth My Friend’s Place actively serves.

Founded in 1988 by a group of dedicated volunteers, My Friend’s Place assists and inspires homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. Each year, there are over 10,000 young people living on the streets of Los Angeles. At My Friend’s Place, they can access services ranging from basic needs, such as food and clothing, to clinical case management and health education.

Three OP volunteers, Dario Osorio, Michael Chmielowiec and Daylyn Shaw took the donations from our OP location in Burbank to My Friend’s Place in Los Angeles. Original Productions CEO and Executive Producer, Phil Segal actively serves on the Board of Directors for My Friend’s Place Board.
